Today, 18 October, the yearly Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven (south of Holland) started. We had a bubbles drink at our Eat Drink Design/EDD (Inside) spot during our 'opening'. Annemoon, of EDD, made a selection of design. In between this nice stuff people will enjoy an exclusive dinner every evening. Interesting idea and I am glad that she asked me to join the event. For the second year I was presenting work of me at the 100%Futures fair in London, part of 100%Design. The paperwork, with new low side table objects, filled my stand this time together with some of my decorated metal mesh work. And... the floor was covered with confetti again...

Although I couldn't enjoy the nice weather outside these days, during daylight, it was worth being inside at my stand: met many nice people from all over the world and if things work out some projects will bring me to several different countries (besides some interesting orders).

Look at my own website, as well as the 100%Design website for attached pdf-files, to be printed as little booklet for yourself.

Just an in between for 2 days, on 27 and 28 July: some of my paper objects are present in Superstore 05 during the 'fashion factory' fair at RAI Amsterdam. (Look at www.modefabriek.nl).
Superstore 05, with theme 'survivalist', shows designers who resist mass production, mediocrity, boring repetitions and 'proper design'. I feel at the right spot, enjoying the flow of the bizarre and eccentric, in disorder!

By the way, if I would have some more space at home I would ask Marieke Hunze to make a wall like she did during the exhibition, with charcoal and textile wire. See picture detail.

We organized a party during the opening in Haarlem on 8 March, dressed in latex clothing made by one of the participants. Photographer Roland Nooteboom made a serie of pictures of the 10 ´material girls´ which will be shown during the exhibition as well. Each time one of us in the centre with own work. Already impression via You Tube herewith included!

Just yesterday, on 8 March, there was the opening of the FiltzVibesSJO at Kunstcentrum in Haarlem - near Amsterdam. FiltzVibes is a group of people basically making textile works. The members come together once a while and inspire each other. I was invited to join the group some time ago. For this (first) group show, called SJO, I made a screen called ´rain drops´ and instead of hanging it - like other textile works - I let it stand on the floor to show this strong aspect of the metal mesh.

Than starting 2008: my paper stools and some new small side table objects ´with smashed top´ were used for an installation at an art gallery in Amsterdam that opened just few months ago. A truly nice combination with the paintings of W.Ververs - sister of the gallery owner.

Besides the mille foglie paper work of me this panel ´play of lights´ was shown. Compositions can be made with existing soft orange coloured night lamps. They fit the openings of a panel front (socket outlets behind it). Size can vary. I would like to see it as a guiding light in a dark corridor for example. When you feel the need just change the position of the lights.

Already before the show started the editor of 02+, the ´must haves guide´ of the Australian Poloxyn magazine was interested to publish about it. And did in the Design Catalogue Volume II 2007: see link:
And.. by the way, maybe a producer is interested to take this into their collection...

Being selected for the first 100%Futures London, part of 100%Design, in September 2007 I presented - also for the first time in my life - some work in my own stand during a fair (instead of gallery´s etc).

The picture above shows my stand with the work shown: some paper stools, low table objects and some blocks with different structures which can be used for sound absorbing walls.

Had nice contact with for example an editor of Damn magazine, and they placed a picture of my paper stool in their magazine. In general: it was good to notice that ´the right people´ were attracted by my stand!

Looking back at 2007 happily, I decided to let people have a general impression of this year - in blog format - as an adjustment to my website www.avhuizing.nl. The blog will be updated now and then from now on.

In April I was in Milan (where I once lived because of an Italian love affair) during the Salone del Mobile, being part of the TuttoBene presentation in a beautiful old building. http://www.tuttobene.nl/milan_2007. Out of this group with Dutch and Belgium designers, Designboom made a selection and has placed pictures of my work on their website too: http://www.designboom.com/snapshot/gallery.php?SNAPSHOT_ID=5&GALLERY_ID=171
